A person who evaded over €60 in motorway tolls by tailgating automobiles in Laois can be assessed for the restorative justice programme.

Jack Thomas Foyle, 20, of 15 Village View, Errill admitted to driving off with out paying the toll on the M7 at Clonadacasey on 16 events between August 18 and November 22 final yr and careless driving.

Sgt Michael Tarpey mentioned there have been quite a few events when he went by the toll with out paying by “tailgating the automobile in entrance” when the barrier went up. “If the automobile in entrance stopped for any motive he was going to rear finish it,” he defined. Sgt Tarpey mentioned he had paid again €60.80 to the toll firm.

Solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick mentioned her consumer had been “extraordinarily silly” and had admitted to the matter. She mentioned he lived at house together with his mom, was a gross sales rep and didn’t have a excessive revenue. On the time of the offence he had been crossing the toll as a result of sports activities commitments.

She mentioned her consumer had made voluntary statements and had “contacted the injured get together and made good the loss.” He has since been accepted for a nursing course, she added. Within the meantime,  Ms Fitzpatrick mentioned “he’s truly beginning a milking job subsequent week.”

Ms Fitzpatrick mentioned her consumer had made admissions, paid the cash and stopped as quickly as he was caught. She mentioned the defendant was on a novice licence and if he had been to get 5 penalty factors for careless driving, “he could be disqualified as a result of he has two factors on his licence already.”  She requested Choose Conor Fottrell to contemplate her consumer for a restorative justice programme.

Choose Fottrell determined to place the matter again to ensure that a report back to be ready on whether or not the person is appropriate for restorative justice. He mentioned “good luck along with your milking” as he put the case again to Portlaoise District Courtroom on January 12.
